Ferrari not ruling out bringing failed Spain floor back

Ferrari still weighing up whether to bring back the controversial floor it ran in Spain after it failed to deliver the expected performance advantage

Just two races after introducing a major upgrade package for its F1-75 at the Spanish Grand Prix, Ferrari's hopes of mounting a sustained title challenge to Red Bull appear to be fading as it struggles to match the pace of its rival.

Part of that upgrade included a new floor design that was intended to improve the car's aerodynamic performance and help it generate more downforce. However, the floor failed to deliver the expected results, and Ferrari has since reverted to its previous design.

Despite the disappointing performance of the new floor, Ferrari is still considering the possibility of bringing it back later in the season. Team principal Mattia Binotto said that the team is still evaluating the data from Spain and has not yet made a final decision.

"We are still looking at the data from Spain and trying to understand why the floor didn't perform as expected," Binotto said.

"It's a bit too early to say whether we will bring it back later in the season, but it's something we are considering."

If Ferrari does decide to bring back the new floor, it will be a sign that the team is still struggling to find the performance it needs to compete with Red Bull. It would also be a major setback for Ferrari's hopes of winning the world championship this year.

Ferrari's struggles in Spain

Ferrari's struggles in Spain were evident from the start of the weekend. The team's cars were off the pace in practice, and they qualified down in fifth and sixth place.

In the race, Ferrari's cars were again off the pace, and they finished a distant fifth and sixth. The team's hopes of a podium finish were dashed when Carlos Sainz Jr. crashed out of the race on the opening lap.

Ferrari's performance in Spain was a major disappointment, and it raised questions about the team's ability to challenge Red Bull for the title this year.

The new floor design

The new floor design that Ferrari introduced in Spain was intended to improve the car's aerodynamic performance and help it generate more downforce. The floor was designed to work in conjunction with the team's new rear wing, which was also introduced in Spain.
